Chris has been teaching at Schmitt Music for over 20 years. He takes a progressive approach to teaching, giving students a solid foundation on which to build while instilling a sense of fun and musicality. In a recent interview, Chris said, "I remember the first time I saw a live drummer play a drum set at my sister's school jazz band concert. I was still in grade school, and knew that one day I would be able to do that too. What I enjoy most about teaching is being able to pass this spark of inspiration on to others."
Chris got his start in music during grade school and high school playing clarinet and saxophone. While majoring in music at Harper College in Chicago, IL, Chris took up drums and percussion, going on to earn both a Music Performance Diploma and a Studio Production Diploma from McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul, MN. Chris plays drums for local favorites The Hard Luck, who have won the Cities 97 Battle of the Bands competition and have made numerous television appearances. He also enjoys writing and recording music in his home studio, snowboarding, and chasing his two kids around.
Christopher has requested a minimum age of 7 years old.
